The artist has donated the full amount of his twenty-five thousand pound honor winnings to the Music Venues Trust, which functions to protect the Britain's small music venues.

He was given the cheque on mid-October as his latest record the album was named the top album of the previous year.

The musician has opted to donate the funds to the Music Venues Trust, in appreciation of the crucial part small stages fulfilled in his initial steps.

"I wouldn't be doing this success if it weren't for all the shows I performed around the region, and beyond, when I was starting out," remarked Sam Fender. "These locations are renowned, but they are in difficulty."

Since the start of 2023, over 150 of these venues have permanently closed – roughly one-sixth of the whole industry in the UK.

Recently, top acts like the band Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all supported the trust in its efforts to keep the scene afloat, by applying a minor surcharge to their ticket costs, which benefits smaller concert halls.

Fender also took part, raising in excess of £100,000 on his 2024 arena tour to support 38 small stages across the UK.

These funds assisted spaces that were facing imminent closure due to difficulties arising from flooding, fires and bereavements, as well as licensing issues, court cases and sound issues.

Other venues received financial assistance in modernizing amenities and sound and lighting systems that helped performers and audiences.

"The idea that revenue from performances in big venues supports the independent spots, where it kicks off for musicians like me, is just sensible," Fender has stated.

Fender is far from the only musician to give his honor prize money to good deeds.

When the band won the trophy in the mid-90s for their record the album, vocalist the singer declared that the act would give their prize money to the organization War Child.

In 2002, rapper and singer Ms Dynamite shared her award between several organizations, such as the children's charity and a charity for Sickle Cell.

"And I contributed a grand to the center, to their gymnastics class, because I practiced gymnastics when I was younger and they lacked better apparatus," the artist explained to outlets.

Previously, they contributed their winnings to the local youth club that nurtured their band, in addition to other independent music bodies.

Also 1994 winners M People donated their winnings to a MS organization after a friend was diagnosed the disease.

"The victory was quite enough," stated artist Heather Small. "The prize was the cherry on top but we didn't require the bonus, because we had the main prize. So our success impacted another person's life."

In the past week, the MVT announced it had protected several small stages in south-east England, by bringing them into public stewardship.

One venue in the city and The Croft in the city were bought under the community ownership scheme, which is backed by a national body and enthusiasts who buy "stakes" in the buildings.
